Mr Beans

I'm not sure exactly what happened to our Bailey either as a puppy or in his past life, but it was something. Because he reacts very strongly (ducking, obsessively licking and quaking in his imaginary puppy boots) to a few certain things.

The best I can figure:

In the past life: He was attacked by naked hippies waving plastic bags in protest. Some were obviously using bottles of lotion to squirt him while others were ringing doorbells. This of course was all happening during a horrendous thunderstorm.

Or in this life: When Kev and I were walking him as a puppy and sneaking him in and out of our "No Dogs allowed apartment" in grocery bags (kev) or by purse (me) which obviously contained a bottle of lotion that made a squirting noise, it was storming and we had to ring the buzzer to get let back in. And I'm just not pretty naked.

I'm sooo sorry Monet

I am feeling so horribly sad and guilty and angry right now. My sweet perfect Monet passed away this afternoon. I left her outside to play for a few hours as I always do. And when I went out to bring her in (ironically to take her to the vet) she was laying on her back legs in the air like she does when she's playing. I ran to her and she was warm, and she moved in my arms, but did not respond; now that my hysteria has calmed I know she was already gone when I found her. I drove as fast as I could to the vet. By the time I reached the parking lot rigor mortis had set in and I knew I had lost her.

The very kind vet assured me that even had I found her sooner there was nothing I could have done. He said it was likely a heart attack or seizure (possibly caused by heatstroke). And by the time I noticed the symptoms at her size she would be gone. But there is a part of me that says I AM to blame. I could have kept her INSIDE today and this may not have happened. I could have went to get her an hour sooner and she may have at least been with me if it was something unavoidable. Hindsight is 20/20.

She was only 5. She was the PERFECT pet. She never complained. She never barked, she let the kids maul her and she loved nothing more then the crinkle of the ham package. She was moms "favorite" and we were kindred spirits. She was a lazy girl just like me, but she managed to do it with spunk. She wasn't just a pet (my rabbit and fish are my pets) she was my baby and the favorite furbabie I had. If I could only have one animal in my entire life it would be her and I lost her much to soon.

Monet, I'm so sorry!

That DOG....

Its always her...the sweetest most innocent laziest and simple little girl.

Yesterday, I called her down stairs. She ignored me. I called and called and called. Finally I went up to get her. She was not in her usual spots (under the bed, next to the toilet, etc). I start to panic, I offer a treat and she still does not come. Well if you know anything about my Monet she is NEVER one to pass up a treat. After 10 minutes of searching the house for her, I realize....the cable guy was here. He opened the door, she is QUEEN of sneaking out. I TEAR out of the house yelling, searching, running! I am panicked, sweaty and hysterical. I call my mother, she'll be right here, I call my husband, he has no idea what to say. I'm already 5 minutes late for work. Who cares, MY BABY is gone. I'm sobbing and I run in the house to get something, and as I open the door, there she stands....in the kitchen, staring, as if to say Mom, whats wrong with YOU, I was TRYING to get some sleep. I was so happy she was alive I could have killed her.

Today, its time to go to work, I yell Monet come down stairs, come on, lets go, I even pull out the treat offer. Nothing, she's tierd and hot. I go upstair and tell her to come out from under the bed. She got excited and runs with me, we head downstairs, all the while Izze in my arms loving the running. As I get to the kitchen, I turn back, NO MONET....I back track and I get upstair with JUST ENOUGH time to see a fluffy tail sneak back under the bed. (Meanwhile, Bailey takes this time alone and decides he should poo on the carpet) I procede to get her out from under the bed, and as soon as she is out she attempts to sneak back under. So finally, I pick her lazzy ass up and carry her down the stairs (while letting Izze frantically pet her and kiss her, this is good punishment I figure). We get to the kennel and usually she trots right in, nope, she tries to run. Oh Monet, you sure do test my patience. So today; my lazy lazy lazy Monet who wants a drink of water so she waits and waits and waits....for it to rain; today, she will be assisted to and fro wherever she may go!

The Runaway

Life is sure crazy around here some day. We have officially made it through our first experience with a run away. Yes, our daughter ran away. She high tailed her little butt out of here as fast as she could. Luckily she didn't head for the road, she headed for the back trail. She took off when we were not looking and ditched her brother. I'm pretty sure she was running away to grandma's house. Luckily she got side tracked. She found some mud puddles. She splashed and ran and ran and splashed. All the while her father and I were frantically looking and calling her name. We were watching the road to make sure she didn't run infront of any cars, we were watching the back yard to make sure she didn't find a big mean bully on her way home, and we were watching the baby, to make sure she didn't get into trouble while we looked for her naughty older sister. Finally after a very long 25 minutes she came home, covered in mud and completely satisfied. She was scolded and put to bed for the night. Her spunk now seems to be out of her system and she will hardly even step foot off of the back deck, in fear of the rath that was her father last night. Thats one smart little girl.

Happy Birthday to Monet

Today is my baby's birthday. Our fourth born, MY baby. She is the sassiest spunkiest little farm girl you'll ever meet. She is the one I've wanted since I was a little girl and she is one of the most spoiled kids you'll ever meet! As are all of our children. She turns two today. So please wish my baby a big fat happy birthday wish!

Snow Snow Go Away

I think this is what my driveway looks like.

Seriously, there is supposedly only 3-4 inches in my driveway, but then WHY is it past my knee. To my measurments it is past 6 inches, AT LEAST. And yes, its light fluffy easy to move stuff, but when you have 5 acres of concrete thats a whole hell of a lot of snow to find a place for. After 2 1/2 hours of shoveling today I have finshed LESS than a third of it. On the happy note, I got quite a work out, on the not so happy note, I only had to dethaw my fingers to prevent frost bite 3 times.

Then I got a helper yes a helper, a big fat german sheparhd who was NOT my own showed up in the yard. We had a stand off. I held up the shovel. I won. He left. My BIG little dog was upstairs barking her little shih tzu head off trying to protect me! Oh the love. Now I am happily sitting here dethawing and waiting to watch Idol. Then I can laugh at people who choose to humiliate themselves and be happy that just for today, everyone ISN'T laughing at me!

My big tough gaurdian! Are you scared?!
