Lets set this straight....

Some days its VERY hard for me to keep my opinions to myself.

I often am torn between the fact that I'm a teacher (a catholic school one at that) and that I'm a raging opinionated liberal. I love my job, and my beliefs, and I would NEVER teach my children any of my views. That said, I guess I think I should still be allowed to have them (opinions) and even to state them appropriately.

Noone has told me I can't, but I still censor myself. Walking a fine line of trying not to offend anyone. That is hard for me as I'm sure you'd know.

SO today, when I really wanted to re-post a friends FB status as my own, instead I came here....

SO LET ME GET THIS "STRAIGHT" - Larry King is getting his 8th divorce, Elizabeth Taylor is possibly getting married for a 9th time, Jesse James and Tiger Woods are screwing everyone but their wives, yet the idea of same-sex marriage is what is going to destroy the institution of marriage?? REALLY??

Don't want him!

Seriously. I can not take 4 months of this.

Will he or won't he.

Then a whole season of the new team "Brett Favre and the Vikings".

NO FREAKEN THANKS.

We are the Minnesota Vikings. We are not about one person. We are a TEAM. And a team I've loved in good times and in bad, because they are my TEAM. But turning them into a freak show, by throwing a 40 year old has been in the mix, will NOT make me love them more.

My husband tells me. "I want a superbowl". Well, sure, I do too. But do I want to spend the next century hearing about how we only got it with the help of a "Packer". No thanks. I am sorry, but as a Vikings fan, a true one, not a fair weather one. I love my team even without the damn ring. I will not sell my soul to satan just to get it.

I have morals. I have values.

And this goes against every single Purple drop of blood running through my body.

When will they learn...

Last week, my husband put up a profile picture that annoyed the shart outta me. I married him based on our beliefs and one of these very important beliefs had been crossed. He went to the dark side if you will. I updated my status informing him that we would be getting a divorce if he did NOT change his profile picture. He ignore me. 24 hours later, I divorced him. A facebook divorce, but a divorce all the same. After all, probably much more "public" then a real divorce. Since facebook soooo kindly informs the general public "Cecile and Kevin have ended thier relationship".

My husband silly man that he is, then went with it, and thought he'd go to the bar "single". So I gladly took his wedding ring from him when we went out. I wore mine, as I do not enjoy the creepy old men at the bar hitting on me. Low and behold, when the night came to an end my poor single husband was still begging me to come home after the only woman that hit on him was his mother in law and I, wedding ring and all, managed to recieve many more inquieries than he, but I took pity and came home with him.

Too bad for him, I'm a good girl and wouldn't dare sleep with a man I wasn't involved with.....wonder how long until he realizes taking that photo down WILL be in his best interest. After all, I alwayas get my way.

What is the world coming to....

You can be sued for just about anything. There is a story in the local news that just saddens me.

A young girl 21, died after drinking too much on her 21st birthday. The family is suing her friends (and the bartender). I find this just so hard to swallow. They have lost a friend, and they are suffering too. I am sure no where NEAR the extent of the family, whom I'm deeply sorry for, but still, suffering.

What does this case teach our children? To me, its saying she is not accountable for her own actions. And I understand while under the influence you can be pursuaded to do things you would not normally do. But in this case, that doesnt seem to be what happend. It seems to me a girl was turning 21 and wanted to go live it up. She was having way too much fun (as where her friends) and unfortuantely did not know when to stop. It ended tragically.

Now, had her friends forcered her to drink 21 straight "3 wise men"s I'd say, yes, they are partly to blame. But this girl, was young, and living life. Its sounds to me from the reports that she had been intoxicated to a high degree many times in her college life. Just as most of us where.

This could have happend to almost every single one of my friends in college at some point. Would I have felt guilty? Maybe. But should I be responsible for thier choice to drink? I dont see how that seems logical. I can take my friends keys, I can steal her wallet, I can hide the liquor, but can I STOP her from drinking if thats what she wants to do! The best thing I can do as a friend is get her home safely (as they did). Should I sit next to my friends bed every night she decides to go out drinking and keep vigil until she awakes safe and sound, that seems quite irrational.

I know there are many of a times, I should have stopped and didnt. I know that no matter what my friends said or did, it had to be MY choice. Only I would have been responsible had something as tragic as this had happend to me.

The most important thing I will tell Izze is that only SHE can be accountable for her choices. And god hopes she makes good ones. But if she doesnt, the only person other then her I feel should be to blame is me. Because I'm the one who taught her to make the choices in the first place.

My cause

Its funny, anyone who knows me will say I’m opinionated and I am stubborn and I like to have things MY way. You probably also know that I am a little obsessive and a whole lot of anal retentive. However, for the most part, I think as a first time mom, I’ve done pretty dang good. I do my best not to be overzealous with my worries and I do my best not to be too set on my ways. There are many ways to raise a baby and my way is no more right then the next persons. I have a routine for my daughter but if someone doesn’t follow it, I usually stay calm. I have rules, but others can make their own. I gave breast feeding a shot and found it wasn’t for me. I personally don’t think my baby lacked anything because of that decision but I respect those who think it’s the only way. I also choose to push my baby in a stroller instead of wearing her. I personally find this to be much easier on me and do not think she would have enjoyed being worn, but I am all for a mommy who can do it. I think cloth diapers are an awesome idea and I may even try them some time, but for now, it’s just not practical for us. That being said, I have found a cause that as a mother I have to fight for. I have to push, and I will not bend with my child or family on this. That is keeping my child rear facing until her seat will not allow it any longer.

If your not a mom, your thinking, car seats?! Cecile, pick a cause people care about! But if you are a mommy, you know this is a GREAT debate. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not going to judge you if you choose to forward face your child at the age of one and 20lbs, but I am going to make sure you’re making an INFORMED decision to do it. Sometimes it’s absolutely necessary and I get that. But when you do it because you’re excited to reach a new milestone, or because its easier for YOU, then that is where I need to point out a few small facts. Then, you can make your own informed decision and I will know I did my part.

Did you know:

Children who are forward facing are 4 times MORE likely to be injured in a crash

Automobile accidents are the #1 killer of children under 15. 72% of 3,500 observed child restraint systems were misused in a way that could be expected to increase a child’s risk of injury in a crash.

The longer a child can ride rear-acing, the better protected his or her spinal cord is in the event of a crash

Children who rear face are actually usually MORE comfortable then children who forward face. The length of their legs doe not bother them and there are NO documented cases of legs/hips/etc breaking due to Rear Facing but there are MANY cases of head and neck injury due to forward-facing. Legs can be fixed; a spinal cord is much harder if not impossible to repair.

Warning....political statement

Warning: This is my view, you do not have to agree, if your reading this, you are accepting my freedom of speech.....

Why does the world work this way. Scratch that, why does OUR free nation work this way? I mean seriously. Our country is set up for the poor or the rich, and noone in between. I'm going through doing my taxes and I have to fork over the government what I consider to be BIG money. I can barely pay my bills as it is and now they are taking over a months rent from me! Seriously, no offense intended, because I know some people who NEED welfare, and thats all well and good for them but there are those that ABUSE the system. People who could have a better job and choose not to because then they wouldnt have free insurance for thier children through the state, these same people manage to not have to pay any taxes and get a huge refund because they have children and are under the tax break mark, they get child care credits, and credits for going to school to get a degree (which they refuse to use), they live off of the money I and millions of other Americans fork over. Money we could use for our own families. What kind of country is this, where I have to help others when I can't even help myself. Don't get me wrong, I'd be the first to give to a charity when I am able, to help feed the homeless, and to help victims of a hurricain. Since I can't do that all the time, I help in other ways, I babysit for free for someone who can't afford child care, I help out friends who are in dire need, even though I myself am in need. Its hard to be forced to give money to a government run by people I don't even BELIEVE in, that just angers me. These people make sure the rich get richer, they use my money to fight a war that I don't support, to send more troops to a place they no longer belong. They use my money to make laws that hurt our children (No Child Left Behind---my ass!). But not to take care of Americans with things like Health Care or Education. And yet come April 15th, I have to write out that check and send it to them. The federal government will let Bush spend it in some obsene way and the state will use it to help people abuse our generousity. What a life we live.
