Its a small world after all...

I sang that song in grade school at one of my concerts. I like that song, its screams Disneyworld. Only the happiest place on earth.

*focus*

So a few months back Kevin posted a WTB listing on craigslist for a treadmill near Faribault. We got a response from a woman with a free one. She gave us her address. She lived 3 blocks from us. AWESOME. Mind you, you get what you pay for, and that didn't quite work out. Its manual, its now gone.

So here we are again. Doing the same thing. Kevin posts the WTB add on craigslist and this time broadens the parameter. He puts southern MN for our area and even says he will pay up to $100. We get a response. The nice woman and Kev realize they are both in Faribault. AWESOME. Then she tells Kev to get a pen so he can write down the address. He doesn't have one but is good with numbers so he will remember. "12XX...*pause*.....Cuylle Bay". Kevin laughs. I think I can remember that, I live at 12XX Cuylle Bay. {4 houses down} Best of all. This treadmill is a NICE one! And the haul home was easy.

Yes Walt....it IS a small world after all.

Is it sad....

...that this is the highlight of my day?

I went to the gym and when I jumped on the treadmill the freaken thing wouldn't start (button was stuck) I was about to move to another and the man that jumped on next to me got mine started. I thanked him and proceeded to do my 5k. But couldn't help but glance back at him now and then because he looked REALLY familiar.

He reminded me of a "hot dad" I'd seen at a Christmas program, but I knew it wasn't him (hot dad has dark hair, his is light). He also looked like a McDonough, but I was pretty sure he wasn't since I know them all. Over the next hour and a half I keep glancing trying to decide if I know him or not. I also was trying to talk myself into (or maybe out of) asking him his name so I could STOP wondering.

As I was about to leave I gave in. I walked up and mentioned that he looks really familiar, and asked if perhaps he had kids at DMCS. I really didn't want to appear as though I was coming on to him, I just wondered. He said no, he didnt. He told me his name (which I did not recognize) and asked if maybe we went to school together. We established that I was a BA girl and he was a public school kid. He was friends with my friends older brother though, so that could be it. I apologized for bothering him and said "I just didn't want you to wonder why the crazy person kept staring at you". At which point he said he didnt notice but had he, he woulda been sure to work extra hard. I laughed and started to leave. As I was walking away he asked for my name (which I had forgot to give) and we did the usual name associations with Cecil Fielder (he pointed out) and Chuck Cecile (I pointed out). He then proceeded to let me know in a "harmless" way that he did NOT have children at DMCS; as he was single with only his black lab. At this point, I wonder, is that NORAMAL to throw in the conversation...so I nervously go to fidget with my wedding ring, which I notice I'm not wearing. Which makes me more nerouse, so I quickly say "nice to meet you" and make my exit......

So I have a new friend. At the gym. And he's HOT. Dangit .
Now I will be THAT much more self consious. No worries all. He aint got nothing on Kev.

Tracking Progress

Well I started on my "diet" almost 11 weeks ago....
  • I have lost 24 lbs.
  • My pant size has dropped from a tight 14 to a 10
  • Not so happily my boobs have shrunk as well 36DD to a 34C
  • Dress size from a large to a medium
I started at the gym 8 weeks ago....
  • from hardly being able to run 60 seconds/walk 90 seconds to a 20 minute straight run (Couch to 5k, I'm in the middle of week 6)
  • 30 day shred level one not able to complete, maybe a 60% effort, to completing it and doing so with more "umph" then kevin
  • chest press from 10 to 30lbs, leg press from 60 to 120lbs, thigh machine from 30-80lbs, and many more......
I started measuring "inches" two weeks ago....
  • lost over 10 inches!
I am starting to feel GOOD! yeah me!

Gym Oddities

Things I wonder about other people:
  • Why do they clean off of a treadmill or an elliptical that their hands may have touched momentarily but they never wipe their sweat off of the weight machines when they walk away leaving it soaking wet, stankey and even with streaked from their deodorant?!
  • Who wears jeans to the gym and expects to get a work out!?
  • Whats with the 15 year old kid in a gym for 18+ who seems to think the more he can lift makes him look cooler, even though he's quivering and clearly not even lifting correctly as his whole body attempts to do even ONE curl up? Seriously?!
  • Why does everyone fight for the front parking spaces, its a GYM, walk the extra 100 yards!
  • Can you REALLY read your magazine, listen to your ipod, and watch the television while getting a work out?
  • Do you think anyone really cares how much weight you were lifting? Is there seriously a need to move the pin down lower after your done, to appear as though you are stronger then you actually are.
Things I wonder about myself:
  • Am I the only one who has trouble getting off a machine if the numbers are not somewhat even. I often spend a lot of time stressing over what number I should be anal about: calories, distance, time. And there are days I try to make sure all three numbers are likeable, this can take time. Yesterday though, I got lucky they were all good numbers I felt comfortable leaving: 175.5, 2.25, :05.
  • Is it normal that I pick my machine based off of the athletic abilities of those on the surrounding machines.
  • Does everyone have to talk themselves into finishing the way I do? Constant. I should just be done now. NO, 1 more minute. Minute passes. Okay, I can go. No, thats still cheating you know it wasnt enough. 3 more. AM I DONE YET?!
  • Did anyone notice me move the pin lower?!?!

Movin on up....

So I'm about to move to week 5 of the couch to 5k. I am not sure if that is cheating or not, technically I've done week 4 three times. The second time was somewhat a failure, as I had to quit my last run a little early. But the 3rd time I did it. And I also took a minute and a half off of my timed mile this week. Usually I would do a week until I did it three times without failure, but in this case week 5 looks much more appealing then another week 4. So call it a cheat, but I'm movin on up!

Also, I'm feeling super inspired this week! Not only did my good friend do a 5k and a 10k (her first of both) all a week apart just recently, but she just posted her one year transformation. She is truly inspiring, and I'm SOOO proud of her!

Note to self....

....when using a podcast for training don't ASSUME you know whats on it.

Listen first.

Prepare yourself.

So when the wench that made it tries to kill you* by making you keel over from exhaustion, you'll know to turn right on the trail instead of left, and you won't look like a 700lb dog without water as you do your best impersonation of a jog past the 230 people sitting outside watching the 8th grade baseball game, but instead can take the slightly longer but more secluded path to your back yard where you can THEN fall to your knee's, hurl your brains out and cry like a baby on being weaned from the teet.....without an audience!

Photobucket

*she added an extra 90 seconds of jogging and an extra 90 seconds of walk, which may not seem like much, but when your already moving up a week and your also adding the outside elements, it is enough to send you to an early grave! I promise.

Well shart

I had my mind set on 6 out 7 days of GOOD workouts. Yesterday day one.

So what do I do?!?! I fall down the stairs and roll my left ankle and scrape up and seriously bruise (and swell) my right knee!!!! I could hardly walk yesterday so no work out for me. I can walk today but deffinately NOT do my jogging video....so shoveling was the best I got today.

Damn......better watch myself and the cookies at tonights game!

Wish me luck

Its time....

The first week of November I made a work out chart and did nothing but pay attention to my bad eating habits and my lack of movement. I did stop buying junk food but I continuted to eat was in the house.

Last week, I actually POSTED the chart on the junk cuboard the day we were officially OUT of junk food. I managed a work out every other day and the days I did not work out I did things such as shoveling the driveway. As for food, I didnt snack, and I tried to behave in my meals, I didnt count calories, I wanted to see how I could do without it. One step at a time, once I'm used to the workouts, I'll add the calorie counting.

I will weigh in on Monday. My starting weight was 165. Tomorrow I will tell you my progress.

I'm hoping there is some, but even if the scale doesnt move. I DID manage to wear my non maternity jeans, so thats a step!!!

Running, Day 2

There is NO excuse for the baby weight any more. It took 9 months to go on, and its had 13 to come off, but there is still a very stubborn 8 lbs that will not go anywhere, and thats NOT including the weight I didn't want BEFORE I was pregnant.

So activity is key here. Since I am a very mean person if you try to take away my buffalo wings or mexican. I hate the TIME it takes to have a good work out, its not very efficiant if you ask me. Therfore, as much as I DETEST running, I am trying to learn.

I am starting with intervals, walk a block, run a block, walk a block, run a block. I will increas the length of those intervals until I get a good distance going. Yesterday, day one, I managed about a mile and a half in about 25 minutes. Today I did the same distance in 20 minutes. I know I should have attempted to go farther on day two, but day one created some shin splints, so day two is a little more painful. Perhaps I will go back later and do a second 20 minutes. But so far, its better than nothing.

Move

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a "doer" about some things and not so much a "doer" about others. When there is a fight to be picked, I'm a doer. When the fight gets physcal, I'm an avoider. When there is a confrentation to be had, I'm a doer. When someones looking for confrentation, I'm an avoider. A child to be snuggled, doer. A child who wants to go outside and play, avoider. A nap to be taken, doer. Cleaing to be done, avoider. A Mels Washington Apple to be drunk, doer. Pitcher of beer, avoider. Doggie kisses, doer. Doggie walks, avoider. Soap operas, doer. Going places to see real life drama, avoider. Tanning, doer. Sweating, avoider. Camping, doer. Exercise, avoider.

I don't know if you've noticed a trend here, but I tend to avoid anyting that can get some what physical. It's just not me. I was never coordinated enough for many sports, I can handle a fun casual game of volleyball and even a nice round of golf, but thats the extent of it. As for fitness, I could never find something I liked. But lately, I've been working on that. Because some day when Izze tells me she wants to go outside and play, your damn righ I'm gonna go....and I'd like to have the energy. So, I'm doing what the commercial says....MOVE. I started with my belly dancing class and I moved up to walking/jogging tapes at home, I've added water aerobics and last night I even took a real aerobics class. It kicked my ass, but I did it and I felt damn good about it! So, thats my goal. Each day I'm gonna move, because when I do, I really just like myself more!

Feeling good about.....

ME!

I'm no where near my goal. But I'm on my way. I've managed to lose enough weight in the last few weeks that I can finally SEE the difference! How much do you love it when your husband starts singing to your daughter "Mommys getting Sexy Back." I know he never thought it was gone but the fact that he noticed the small change makes it a much bigger change so yeah for a noticable difference.

Then there is the dreaded exercise. I hate it. But I'm doing it and they are right, the more you do it, the better you feel, so the more I do it! Love that! I went to water aerobics for the first time ever and it kicked my ass. The work out was fine but when I was laying in bed last night I turned into Gumby the rubber man. So my new goal, to do water aerobics until I'm the one kicking its ass!

And lastly the eating. Its a day at a time thing. I have a notebook where I write what I eat. I can't lie in there, and I am doing good. But noone else sees it. So I'm making a chart, like a kid who goes potty. I'm putting the big fat chart on the fridge and when I do good and make it a whole day without cheating I'm getting a sticker. And you bet your ass I'll work for my sticker, because thats just the kind of girl I am. Maybe I can have a competetion....I can see if I can get more stickers then my kid brother does for his potty chart. That sounds great......Cecile is taking on the 5 year old....Your going down kid!

So thats all for now....just haning out with a smile on my face and feeling good about me!

Will Power

Some days you just have it, some days it goes missing. I've done very good for a while. But when I'm not being held accountable I let it slide. When I write down all of my activities and all the foods I eat and I know someone will look at that, I DO IT and I do well. I don't lie. When I am not writting it down, I lie to myself, if I eat skittles 10 times a day but only a handful at a time, it must not count. So, today I am starting to try harder with small steps and that means being accountable even if its only out here in cyber land. One day at a time.....Today I did 30 minutes of aerobics and I wrote down EVERYTHING I ate. No lies......one day down, the rest of my life to go.......

Almost the weekend!

Wow the weekend just ended and its almost the weekend again! I love this. Thanks to Thanksgiving I have no work on Thursday and Friday and thanks to my daycare being closed I took a personal day on Wednesday to spend with my girl. That means tomorrow is FRIDAY! I'm very excited about this. After all I made a few too many productive choices this weekend and not enough lazy ones. But in all of that productiveness we visited the in-laws, got a few free meals, put up the outdoor christmas decorations and even went shopping (adults only!).

Thank god for this short week because my brain function is at a minimum! I think that even though I have FINISHED my christmas shopping, I will probably go to the mall of america on Wednesday and walk around with Izze in her storller, she loves that. Its a good way to exercise without doing anything. I love taking the easy way out.

This has to be my least interesting entry yet, and thats because as I said before, my brain is not functioning. I just keep writing random thoughts......I'll be back when my brain works better!

Skinny Witch

So, as I get home from work and go to the snack cuboard to have a snack, I find myself staring face to face with....myself. I thought maybe, a picture of me at a smaller size might be inspiring to look at when I get the munchies. I thought this might defer me from snacking on useless things, slow me down some, make a healthier choice, maybe NOT snack. But no, what I do is open up the cuboard to my Skinny Cecile and say "shut up....YOU used to eat whole bags of doritoes! YOU used to drink sugar pop like water! YOU were in sports. YOU were a highschooler. YOU have no idea what its like to carry extra weight just so you can create a child...SO YOU dont' have a say". I think the skinny witch in the cuboard is no longer serving its pupose. But hey, at least I have someone in there making sure noone steals my doritoes!
